Choosing the convenient path, most times, lead to the most inconvenient destinations.
– The Feminine Throne
Have you ever chosen to do the easiest or most instantly gratifying thing but at the end it just wasn’t worth it. I will raise my hand to that because I have been there honey! This is one of the most frequent challenges faced when it comes to making decisions in life. With one decision you will get some results immediately and the other decision will take a little patience, hard work, and dedication before you finally yield those results. In a society where instant gratification is validated amongst well, society, it can be quite difficult choosing to wait for what you truly want because it will take time or requires too much work.
It is all a matter of perspective. What we can have right now v.s. what we ultimately want in the end. There are favorable and unfavorable consequences to both decisions. You can take the easy road and yield somewhat of an instant result but the problem with that is usually the excitement and gratification will leave just as quick as it came, not to mention its not what you truly desire. Then you have what is usually called the less traveled road, the one that takes time, a lot of work and making changes; but that hard work yields some of the greatest success.
For example, you want to start a self development journey because you are just not happy with who you are and leaving your life up to chance but, you heard you have to give up a lot and you have no idea what self development even truly means. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Now you can stay where you are and have the convenience of being comfortable, keep certain people and habits in your life, and maybe just by chance you will grow a long the way. Well, you will continue not being happy with yourself or your life, which will ultimately lead to a place of depression, low self esteem, and never truly reaching your potential. See how that was a convenient path but the destination was miserably inconvenient and just not worth it if you ask me. On the other hand you can choose to start a self development journey and possibly be inconvenienced by having to make some changes but the person that you start to evolve into will be your most rewarding and most successful accomplishment. Who can be mad about becoming the person they’ve always dreamed about, hello, isn’t that what we all are striving for.
It is never easy choosing to step outside of your comfort zone but the outcomes are the results we never regret. The one thing that stands out about the most successful people in the world is that they were willing to be uncomfortable.
