I know how discouraging it can be to get half way through the year and you’re reflecting on some of the goals you wanted to have completed, but it seems as if you might not accomplish all the amazing things you set out to do this year. Sometimes we get so stuck on the journey and the goals that we don’t take time out to acknowledge how far we have come. Honoring our wins will help fuel us as we set our sights on the finish line. Let’s get into it!
Growth is beautiful, I mean it is the reason for the season in our book but one thing about growth that kind of makes you want to lose it, is that it requires a vital and very important understanding, that, growing has its power, but it also has its pains. The power that you gain from moving past fear and trauma, realizing your fullest potentials, learning that you have all that you need within you are so very life changing. The catch 22 is that, simultaneously, the growing pains are there, and they can kind of steal the joys of growth itself.
Two types of growing pains that you most likely struggle with are the pains of changes, and the pain of wanting to be further along in your journey. One has you trying to get through the past while the other has you trying to skip through to the future. Sound familiar. I will break it down further. Constantly thinking about changes and all the things that you need to work on lead you to a state of unrest. Why? The brain has to have time where it is at peace. You could accidentally push yourself into negative emotions that stand between you and the growth you were hoping to achieve. Although, it is great to have these moments where we can make the realizations needed, we are not meant to live and dwell in them. Secondly, constantly wishing you were further along. This can be very damaging if taken too far because it can cause you to compare yourself to others or the misconception that you are suppose to strive for perfection. Now neither one of them is better than the other nor are they just super bad things but, both of them take you away from realizing the now. Where you are right now in your life and what it took to get you here is worth celebrating. It is not about never making mistakes, being the smartest person in the room, having it all together all the time or even being perfect. Being in the Flow, is not just about pressing on tirelessly to the destination but about the ride there. This is where you get to take it all in. The ride is where you’re going to fall in love with yourself, you are going to understand yourself and others, and it’s where you are going to learn all the amazing tools that will help you through different times in your life. No one should miss out on that.
This is why the quote, “Grow as you Flow,” resonates so deeply. Flow is simply something that moves freely and uninterrupted. Now I am not telling you to let it all go and let what happens happen, the fact that you are a growth-motivated person means that your “stream” is already moving at amazing speeds compared to those who have chosen to leave growth up to chance. What I am saying is find balance.
Grow as you flow is all about an understanding with yourself that although we are not where we want to be, we are going to praise ourselves for all that we have accomplished so far anyway. So as we move forward we will honor our progress, celebrate our victories, enjoy the ride, and make some amazing memories a long the way. Don’t forget that you are ALIVE. Life is not just about tasks, jobs, and goals; you weren’t meant to chase, chase, chase. The ultimate goal is to find balance and peace between who you were, who your are, and who you strive to be. Happy Growing to you all.
